How do I sign up?
- On your computer, go to https://www.shopwithscrip.com.
- Choose the blue box in the upper right hand corner that says “Join a Program”.
- On the next page, you will need the Munster Band Backer’s Enrollment code, 188B21BD3L266, then click “Register”.
- Choose a username and password and follow the remaining steps to create an account (Name, address, etc.), then click “Register” at the bottom.
- Enter a phone number where you can receive a code to verify. This will be used if you ever lose your password. When you receive the code, enter it into the box provided. You’re now set up to use Scrip.

About the Program
FRIP is a fundraising program which allows you to earn a “rebate” on purchases that can be applied to your student’s CHARMS/band account (or put into the Band Backers general fund to help support Munster Bands if you don’t have a student in the band and just want to help). This is done by purchasing physical or electronic gift cards for groceries, restaurants, retail stores and websites/internet shopping sites that you may already be patronizing everyday. With consistent use, you can literally shop away your student’s band fees. A family with a $200 weekly grocery budget can easily earn $280-370 a year into their account just on groceries alone.
Currently, there are almost 740 different retailers who offer rebates through this program. Over 400 of these retailers offer the convenience of “instant download” eGift Certificates. This makes it really easy to use as you shop online, before leaving to shop at many local stores, to give a teen a “budget” to spend at a certain retailer (iTunes!), to keep to a grocery budget yourself or if just if you need an unexpected gift in a hurry. It takes just minutes to purchase a Gift certificate that has a code to use for payment on a website, can be printed out to be scanned at a retailer, or can be sent as a gift. For those more tech savvy, there is also a mobile app that allows you to use many certificates on your phone (the retailer can scan the barcode on your phone at payment). Using gift certificates is also a great way to protect your credit card information when shopping online. Once you are set-up to use ShopWithScrip, it’s literally only takes a few extra steps to have a portion of your weekly purchases benefit your student’s account or the band.
How it Works:
Once you’re set up to use ShopWithScrip, you can purchase gift certificates from various retailers offered on the site. The site will tell you how much of a rebate is being offered (typically anywhere from 2-18%), if there are any retailers offering “bonus” rebates that are higher than normal and the available format(s) for the certificate.
The certificates are available in 3 formats: ScripNow, Physical card and Reload.
- ScripNow are instant eGift cards that can be accessed fairly quickly after purchase. They will have a code that can entered for an online purchase and a barcode that can be printed/shown on phone and scanned at a retail location.
- Physical cards will take longer to receive, as the Band Backers have to pay a shipping fee for the cards to be sent to the coordinator and therefore, the orders for these are submitted in intervals that allow for as many cards to be shipped at once as possible.
- Reloadable cards (such as grocery cards) require that you have a physical card that has been previously purchased from Scrip which can be reloaded with funds. This typically takes from a few minutes on some to overnight on others. Some examples are: most grocery and gas cards.
You add the certificates you’d like to purchase to your cart, choose the denominations and complete your order. Orders paid for ScripNow via PrestoPay or credit card typically show up in your site “dashboard” within a few minutes. The reporting for the rebates is done quarterly, with the student designated at set- up’s CHARMS account being credited for 90% of the rebate earned. Band Backers keeps 10% of the total rebates earned to cover costs for the program and other fees.
Your purchases through ShopWithScrip.com can be paid in one of several ways:
- The easiest (and most time/cost effective) way is setting up PrestoPay, as described below. PrestoPay™ uses the safe, reliable NACHA electronic fund transfer system, which is the same highly regulated, secure system used for direct deposits and other transfers. Simply link your bank account and you’ll be able to take advantage of all Scrip has to offer. Your checking account will be debited automatically on the day you place your order with a $.15 charge added for the convenience of using Presto Pay.
- Purchases can also be paid via MasterCard, Visa and Discover Card, but any purchases made with a credit card will be charged an additional 2.6% fee for the processing, which tends to negate the benefits for all but cards with much higher rebates. There have been special events during the year, the last right before the winter holidays, when Scrip offered zero fee for credit card purchases (they send an email out when they offer this promotion). If your credit card offers points, this is a great opportunity to mark holiday gifts off your list, help the band AND rack up points.
- The last method is choosing to pay via a check to the program coordinator / dropping off a check in the Band Backers box, but with this method any instant or eGift Certificates or reloads will not be sent to you until the check is received by the coordinator and the order submitted by them. The Band Backers may choose to discontinue this option in the future if it’s found to be inefficient.
Non-Sufficient Funds (NFS) Policy:
If an order has been placed, and the automatic withdrawal comes back NSF, Great Lakes will cancel the family order and CHARGE Munster Band Backers A BANK CHARGE OF $30.00. The family will then owe Munster Band Backers the $30.00 charge.
If a card order has been placed, and the automatic withdrawal comes back NSF, and Munster Band Backers has already processed the card order, Munster Band Backers will be charged for the face value of the card order, PLUS A BANK CHARGE OF $30.00. The family will then owe Munster Band Backers for both amounts (face value of the cards, plus the $30.00 charge).
Upon the second NSF, the family will be removed from the FRIP program.
Signing up for PrestoPay™:
There are two choices to do this on the site: Instantly Link a Bank Account (which some people have had issues with working correctly) and Manually Enter Account Numbers, which can take a day or so to verify depending on your bank. You just will need to follow the easy instructions to link Presto Pay to your bank account. If you utilize the manual process, when you complete your signup you will see the following message: “In 1 – 2 business days, check your registered bank account for the two deposits from Great Lakes Scrip Center, and make a note of the amounts.” When you see the two small deposits into your bank account (usually visible on your online banking site), log back into shopwithscrip.com. There will be a pop-up that will take you to the page to verify the deposit amounts. Enter them into the system, choose a unique PIN number to use when you pay and click “submit”. You’ll then be set-up to pay for your purchases using PrestoPay!
