Your winner is. . . .
MIA BUONO
Mia is in the 9th grade at MHS. She is also competing this solo “Quiet” for the MHS JV Dance Team and for her Studio’s Competition Team this season. The Contemporary dance solo she performed for last year’s MGT placed 2nd at State and 10th at Nationals. She is a Peer Tutor at MHS and active in Project X and Spanish Club. Despite all the injuries she has had and currently have, she says “I still find a way to rebound and keep dancing. That just shows how determined and dedicated I am to this sport. And yes, Mr. Grunewald – Dancing is a Sport.”
Mia entered MGT because “it’s another great chance for me to show my love and passion for dance. Also, because word around my house is…I can be a little competitive. I always challenge myself to do better each time I go out on the floor to compete. So this competition is not only going to be fun for me, but it will also be an opportunity to help prepare me for my school and studio dance season. At last year’s MGT I was truly honored to come in as the Runner-Up to Zoe and her harp performance. All the acts that year were so talented and amazing! I know the competition will be fierce again this year, too. So of course I’m going to challenge myself to do better than I did last year!
Wishing everyone good luck and to have their very best performance tonight!” Mia is inspired by her dance coach, Miss Samantha Taylor, and her sisters, Bella and Olivia, who danced before her. “They are the best role models!”
Congratulations Mia!
